Imagine having all the benefits of close proximity to a major road without any of the drawbacks.
In this groundbreaking START proposal, a kilometre-long wall of lacquered aluminum runs adjacent to a major highway. With a lightweight double skin, the Wall acts as a sound barrier to protect the ensemble of activities - businesses, homes, leisure facilities and hotels - which spread out in the landscape behind. With the potential to contain landfill waste, the Wall could also act as a support structure for vertical parking bays or as an iteration of the Housing/Innovation Street.
