With an exceptional understanding of the way in which a working environment impacts on a company's success, START places its architecture and design studio at the heart of its business, boasting a team with years of accumulated experience in successfully developing creative, cost-effective design solutions which meet the challenging constraints of time and money. We specialise in the architecture of office space with particular expertise in the design of innovation centres, serviced offices, science parks and related mixed use developments. Project sizes range from £2m to £10m in value.

START Architecture has designed our first two buildings at Woolwich and Fareham, and is also responsible for the design of our new buildings at Harwell, Dartford and Chelmsford.

START's ongoing interaction with the end user places it in the unique position of being able to develop architectural solutions using a combination of design flair and practical feedback. Our buildings consistently combine flexibility and efficiency, providing a professional environment for tenants which facilitates networking, and is comfortable, productive and inspiring. Typically, buildings include light, airy central atria with high quality external and internal finishes.

Our extensive experience of the day to day running of buildings has also proved an invaluable tool in ensuring that our buildings, from an operational point of view, are also economical, durable and easy to maintain.

In addition to a growing portfolio of original built projects, START is developing a series of conceptual research projects and prototype models. New technologies and changes in traditional methods of working provide an exciting opportunity to address social and spatial problems in innovative ways, to explore the delivery of buildings and projects which add value and sustainability - buildings which enhance the present and create new possibilities for the communities of tomorrow. These projects include live / work housing, small community innovation centres and office 'pods'.
